This southern girl transplanted to California still loves her from scratch biscuits!
Cheat sheet: Do you see how I don't have a biscuit cutter? Just your average glass.
And here's the reason for the supersize biscuit in the picture above (bottom left biscuit). The amazing judge likes biscuits and he likes them doughy (cough...gross) So that's his special one.
I found this recipe in Williams-Sonoma recipe book a good while ago.
2 C all purpose flour*
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
6 Tbs butter, softened helps
3/4 C milk
*Feel free to use some whole wheat. It still puffs up nicely and is still tasty.
Preheat oven to 425*.
Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl.
Cut the butter in the dry mixture. When it resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in milk until batter loosely adheres together.
Place on greased cookie sheets or nonstick mats and bake for 15-18 minutes.
Watch them puff up a bit and enjoy them warm, with more butter, slathered jam or by itself!
Your butter-loving, Aly
The handsome judge gives this a 5*****,
especially when accompanied with eggs, grits, crispy bacon and orange juice!
