A few days ago, taking the advice from a friend, our family went and visited a state beach. With also happened to have a marshy river close to the beach. Can you tell how foggy it is? That's pretty normal around this area of California. Despite the fact that we are in the first week of July, the water (and well weather too!) are quite cool.
There were marshy areas, sandy beaches, rough rocks to climb and misty clouds.
The kids loved exploring especially because Daddy checked everything out with them!
See my D girl? When I started conditioning her hair for the day, she asked for a 'fro. Even though it seems to tangle a bit more easily, what girl doesn't want to let her hair out and feel the breeze run through the curls??
So she wore a little headband and we teased her hair out and she had a grand ol' time!

These are my oldest three.
We've got Batman (though he tells us, he's Joker), D girl (Miss Theatrical) and T (the oldest, and quite possibly the goofiest).
The whole reason I am pulling up this picture is to show you D girl's hair.
Can you see how cute D girl's hair is when it's just picked out with a simple headband?
Anyways, also at this State Beach there are running trails.
When we go back, the hubs and I will take turns running the trail while the kids play in the frigid water.

Though the water felt like you were walking into a ice bath, the kids found it invigorating and began circuits of walking into the water, and climbing up the rock, jumping off the rock and getting back into the water.
See Batman jumping in midsentence?
And lest you think I have forgotten the baby, nay.
She just is usually on my hip!
But here she is preparing to stuff her face with sand!
Why do babies like to eat sand?
Lack of trace minerals in diet?
Feels better to grit her gums on sand rather than endure the teething pain?
Whatever the reason, she likes sand!

Beautiful cross through the mist
This is the beach side and it's where we found a flock of geese. I suppose they were feeling the Pacific Ocean
and realized the waves were too rough for them. Later on, we found them on the little island in the marshy river.

The fog was so thick that we could hear the ocean waves crashing but could not see it until we were nearly toppled by them.
I was captured by the foggy beautiful ocean. It was lunch time and still the clouds hung low. The sun hadn't burned off the fog and I would have been surprised if it succeeded before nightfall. Compared to the summertime Florida beaches, this was cool, serene, and mystical. It was a place, we'll visit many more times. It's a quiet spot where the kids can roam and use their imaginations.
Just the fit for my littles!
