Yep, beyond those clouds is the Golden Gate Bridge.
No, the day wasn't dreary actually, it's just typical summer weather in San Fran!
We did get to taste some of San Fran's
During this past holiday weekend, we took a day trip to San Francisco.
(Let me tell you, it took me a whole day of typing San Francisco into google on my phone before I could spell it correctly!)
We first headed to the Golden Gate Park because it's just fun and beautiful!
It's like Central Park for New York but in San Fran.
(While I do know how to spell the city, it's so much easier to type San Fran. So that's what I am going to do. Bam.)

Along the way, we have to go through about 5 million traffic lights and stop at all of them. Always my luck.
There was some fun mosaic art on the sides of buildings too.
I like organized street art.

At the park we got to watch lawn bowling.
A new favorite for my kids.
My 2 year old son asked if he could participate.
I think the youngest player was maybe in his 70's.
Maybe in a few years pal.
And my littlest looks more intrigued with the water bottle than with the game.

The cement slide was a huge hit...especially if Daddy was with them.
On our way back to the car, we spotted this cool guy and the way cool bubbles!
I mean, these bubbles were massive.
He claimed it was only soap and water.

After a hot day at the park (Ok, hot is relative...like 68* F), where do you go
but
to taste ice cream!!!
but
to taste ice cream!!!
Look it up online to understand what's special about it. I am not scientific enough to explain.
I like that there's not many options.
And this machine is called...Brr....
And it makes this...which is...
OH SO GOOD!
OH SO GOOD!
We tried the vanilla (my hubs' favorite), the chocolate (WOW!) and the sweet corn with berry sauce (
Next up, we visited the Maritime Museum and got to check out old pictures inside
and visited those ships over there!
All for free!
Thanks to the national parks' stance on Active Duty members getting free admission!

A lady sailor.
We also were able to tour one of the ship's docked in the wharf.
These boats (What's the difference between the terms boat and ship???) are the only boat museums in America (or so I think that's what the sign said...)

We spotted Alcatraz.
How would you like to climb up those?
No, thank you!!
Several years back, I learned at the Grand Canyon that I get dizzy when I am high up.

Or use that toilet????
And that was for the Captain and his family.
Yep! The Captain's wife was on the ship and delivered
yes,
you read that right,
BIRTHED
a child.
on the boat.
And I think it's tough to go to a hospital and deliver naturally.
No more complaints.

And the museum gave free booklets and stamps to the kids.
We were right across the way from that tasty Chocolate place.
And on our drive to Lombard Street, we found a few rather hilly roads.
So San Fran, right?
So San Fran, right?
Short and Sweet and Twisty, Lombard Street.
A total tourist spot.
What's that impressed,
though it will be fun to be able to say we've done it.
Did you know that while San Fran is known for this road, there are more windy and higher incline roads in the world?
But when you think of San Fran, this may be an image that pops into your mind!
And there's actual houses that people live in on that road.
I would not like that.
On the way home, we ate at In 'n Out.
Sorry to burst anyone's bubbles, but it was not that great.

The positives:
They gave free stickers to all the kids.
Tomato and lettuce are automatically put on the burgers.
Sauteed onions are put on at no extra charge.
Cheap
Negatives:
Tasted like grease and no flavor
Unsalted french fries (just let that thought sink in...)
Usual busy, rushed feeling at fastfood joints
Sadly, we were not impressed.

Still the trip was a success!
We'll be going again!
